In the Effect Controls Panel, use the eyedropper tool for the “From” color to select the current hair shade. Then, set the “To” color to your desired shade. Adjust Hue, Lightness, Saturation, and Softness to refine the effect.Step 5: Mask the Hair Area
Select the adjustment layer and use the Pen Tool (G) to create a precise mask around the hair. This ensures that only the hair is affected by the color change and prevents unwanted areas from being altered.Step 6: Refine the Mask and Animate If Needed
Increase the Mask Feather (e.g., 3 pixels) for a smoother blend. If the subject moves, animate the Mask Path by adjusting it frame by frame to follow the motion.Step 7: Preview the Changes
Play the video to check how the new hair color looks. Adjust the Change to Color settings or mask if needed to improve the effect.
Step 8: Render and Export
Once you’re satisfied with the result, go to Composition > Add to Render Queue, choose your preferred settings, and click Render to save the video.
Conclusion
By using the Change to Color effect and masking, you can easily change hair color in After Effects with precise control. This method ensures a natural look, even in moving footage, making it a great tool for creative edits or color correction.
