Whenever I work on a project in After Effects it’s a pain to wait for previews.
Even if you have the fastest computer it’s never enough for After Effects.
Here are a few tips I use in my workflow to make previews faster:
- Change the resolution quality of your composition.
- Solo a layer(s) you’re working with.
- Add SSD disk cache.
- Save your project on a separate SSD disk.
- Reduce project to remove unused items.
Pro tip: use separate SSDs for the system and projects. Your system SSD drive is used by other apps and operating system. It has less ability to transfer data because it is used so much.
Separate SSD for projects will allow to load assets much faster.
